RCFS recently released our 2012-13 Annual Report. We hope you will take a few moments to download and read it, then share it with your friends, family, colleagues, and community decision makers. Every day we are making a difference in the lives of young children and their families, and we want the world to know it.
Just a few quick highlights:
- We leveraged our annual allocation of $743,919 from the General Assembly to the tune of an additional $1,598,411. That’s 215% in leveraged funds! | jump to this section of report
- Through a grant from United Way of the Midlands, centers participating in our child care mentoring program increased their Environmental Rating Scale(ERS) scores by twice as much as their counterparts who did not receive mentoring. | jump to this section of report
- Using the Teaching Strategies/Creative Curriculum GOLD assessment tool, children in our Early Head Start program are making tremendous progress and most are meeting or exceeding goals: 82% in Language and Literacy Development; 89% in Cognition and General Knowledge; 90% in Social or Emotional Development; and 90% in Approaches to Learning.| jump to this section of report
- Our Partnership Board are active and engaged, taking a leadership role in advocating for First Steps reauthorization by the General Assembly. Our board members wrote letters, e-mails, and op-eds — 49 in all, and 7 members testified before the South Carolina Joint Citizens and Legislative Committee on Children about the importance of quality early care and education. | jump to this section of report
